Dollops of Bollywood tadka blended with dhaba cuisines make way into the hearts of the fans of the legendary Bollywood actor Dharmendra as a new restaurant Dharam Garam – Dhaba Te Theka was inaugurated at Connaught Place here on Wednesday.
Elated at the opening of the food hub, Dharmendra reminisced his cinema days and said, “Delhi and dosti (friendship) always come together.”
Garam Dharam is a venture of Umang Tewari with his contemporary take on Dhaba inspired by veteran actor Dharmendra in association with co-partner Dharmendra and Mickey Mehta.
Fun, quirky and lively – the new joint will add movies’ masala and cook up a delicious meal to your hearts’ full, the owners claim.
“Bollywood&’s veteran Dharmendra has been ruling hearts since his young days. His movies, dialogues and songs are everyone&’s favourite. Keeping this in mind, I thought to give the capital its first restaurant inspired by the veteran actor,” Tewari said.
Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Apne, Dharam-Veer, Yamla Pagla Deewana – his films, dialogues, songs, props and his characters are the essence of each corner of the restaurant. From the name of the restaurant to the items in the menu, each little detail is inspired by the He-Man of Bollywood.
When asked which one is his favourite, the actor said, “”Everything in the restaurant is perfectly designed and I am fond of the interiors.”
“Dharam Garam is place for all those who enjoy simpler elements of life – good food and good music,” Tewari added.
“The place has many quirky points that will make you fall in love with it. Posters of Dharmendra’s popular movies to famous dialogues of his movies scattered over Dharam Garam&’s wall; his grapphiti to contemporary dhaba-themed interiors – the place has it all.”
He also said, “When it comes to food, Delhi wants to have it best. Our menu includes something for each appetite. Also, we are introducing the unique ‘dhaba dabbas’ that will surely be a hit among people looking for quick meals. For people running short on time, we have also planned take-away counters.”
Most of all, interesting mocktails and desi-drinking-concepts top the list. Jawani Bhari Gulabo, Veeru Ki Ghutti, Khatti Meethi Chulbuli, Pyaare Mohan Masala Nimbu – the tempting names of drinks might sweep you off the floor.
“We are on a mission to come up with many theme-restaurants. Starting with Dharam Garam, there are many more in the pipeline for this year itself,” Mickey Mehta said.
“Dharam Garam is one-stop-solution for the best food, drinks, fun and entertainment. We can assure that it&’s the most filmy and entertaining outlet,” Mehta added.
